Striving today for a thriving tomorrow

As a part of the Aditya Birla Group and a good corporate citizen, we place transparency, ethics, and sustainability at the core of our operations. How we do business, therefore, is as important to us as how much business we do.

By placing equal emphasis on people, planet, and profits, we ensure that our work leaves a positive impact on our stakeholders – not just our customers, but also the environment, our employees, and the communities living in the vicinity of our power plants.

Our sustainability mantra

Our sustainability mantra

We are committed to developing and implementing a sustainable roadmap for growth that is inclusive of the needs and wellbeing of all our stakeholders.

Sustainability measures

Across our plant locations in India, Aditya Birla Renewables promotes environmental conservation, sustainability, and good governance through a slew of measures. Here are some of them.

Solar modules need to be cleaned regularly to retain their efficiency. In a traditional scenario, this cleaning process can be extremely water-intensive.

By using modern techniques at our plants, we have seen a progressive year-on-year reduction in our per-megawatt water consumption. Going forward, we will keep striving to further reduce our water footprint each year.

Our plants are ‘zero waste’, meaning that they generate no solid, liquid, or gaseous effluent. Therefore, they have no negative impact on the environment.

We conduct stringent environmental assessments before acquiring land for a project. We ensure that the land is non-fertile and has a low green cover to minimise any potential impact on the local flora.

We also actively conserve the natural resources at the plant sites. Our team has planted around 6,000 trees in Odisha, Telangana, Gujarat, Karnataka, and in other states. We have conserved local water bodies at Balangir in Odisha, Charanka in Gujarat, and Mulbagal in Karnataka.

In our quest to economically support rural communities, we offer employment opportunities to the communities residing around our plants.

We have created hundreds of local jobs in roles such as security, housekeeping, and module construction, to name a few which boosts families’ financial security and local economy.

Safety is a byword at Aditya Birla Renewables, and we are working diligently towards our business goal of Zero Harm.

Our operational plants, as well as our head office, are ISO 45001:2018 certified, indicating our ability to provide a safe and healthy workplace. In addition, our O&M plants have one of the best safety records for our industry in terms of 'safe man-hours worked'.

To safeguard occupational health and safety, we have robust training mechanisms and safety manuals. We also conduct regular safety audits and management reviews to mitigate risks.
